Assignment #2

Assignment # 2 Flipchart tools
Due January 19, 2010
200 Points

The purpose of this assignment is to introduce you to resources packs and encourage you to practice using the ActiveInspire software and become more familiar with the basic tools.

NOTE: I have embedded links in assignment so that you have resources to help you. These are pdfs of the ActiveInspire Help Menu pages, by clicking on the link you will find information about the specific tool or topic. Because these are pdf documents the links on the page are not active. To view the pages so all links are active Launch ActiveInspire - click on the HELP menu then click on contents. This is a GREAT resource. Please use it when you are stuck.

This Assignment has 2 parts.

1. Exploring Resources

Login to PrometheanPlanet.com and spend some time exploring the Resources Tab. Notice how you can search by subjects, Resources Type, Grade Level or Resource Area. Find a minimum of 2 resource packs that you feel would be useful in your classroom. Download these files and import them into your Resource Library. For help importing resource files see file below.

Download file "Importing and exporting resource packs.pdf"

Assignment #2 Basic Flipchart Tools
Create a new flipchart (or flipcharts) that you can use with your students. The content of the flipchart(s) is up to you but it should fit into your instruction and should have a minimum of 4 pages.

This flipchart should demonstrates your ability to:

1. Work with Resources:
Use at least 2 different resources from your resource files. You may wish to use a background (photo or grid) or people, animals, shapes, coin etc - whatever works for your lesson.

Use the rubber stamp tool to duplicate at least one of your resources - this is an excellent tool for duplicating or using with your students. Leave me a note on the page that you use the rubber stamp tool letting me know what you did.

2. Work with Shapes
Use a shape(s) in a manner that allows students to interact with the board. ( hide answers, move shapes to build something. Venn Diagram etc.. ) When creating shapes show your ability to:
3. Working with Text
Include text boxes on your flip cart, in these text boxes demonstrate your ability to:
        • Use at least 2 different fonts
        • Use at least 2 different font colors
While working with text explore the On Screen Keyboard as well as spell check (see working with text for spell check information).

4. Work with Revelers (both spotlight and the reveler tool)
The Spotlight is a presentation tool. It masks part of the flipchart, so only a portion is visible. The default settings of a black background and circular white spotlight simulate an actual spotlight and help to focus attention. Because this is a presentaion tool you will need to turn it on when needed.

Please leave me a note telling me what slide you would used the spotlight tool on and how it was used.

Use the spotlight tool at least once in your lesson. To use Spotlight go to the Tools Menu, select Spotlight. To change the color and boarder etc you need toEdit your profile.

Reveler tool - (window shade) Practice using the reveler tool also. Leave a note telling me what slide you might use it on and how.

When finished

Email Robin 2 of the resource packs that you used downloaded for this assignment.

Email this flipchart(s) to Robin. Include an explanation of how to access spell check in the body of this email.

You will share this flipchart(s) with the class on January 21st.

Do not worry about fancy - just have fun, create something you can use with your students and explore the software.

If you have any quesitons please do not hesitate to send me a note or call.
