Today we went to the Holocaust Museum which is dedicated to the Jews who were victim to Hitler's rath. And as we were going through the museum we learned about a boy named Daniel and how he survived the Holocaust. We spent about 4 to 6 hours looking through it which was really long so that time we were given came in handy. And some of the information from the 8th grade holocaust books we are reading was mentioned in the museum. Like Warsaw's (Warsaw is the capitol of Poland) Ghetto were Daniel was held for a little while then moved and seperated from his family. And many many more things were mentioned a whole lot that I can't remember much of. Then once we were all grouped up we looked for a place to eat well Mr. Hindman did. After we got done eating we headed to our next destination, the Jefferson memorial where we met up with our tour guide. She mainly showed us memorials and statues of great people. Once we got to one she told us the history behind it. Like here is an example the Washington National Monument, it was being built during the Civil War so the capitol was low on money and they started making the monument, when they ran out of money to buy the stone they were using they stopped making it. It toke some time but they eventually got the construction back on track and when they were building it they didn't noticed this but the stone that they were buying was the same but it had a different color. That was some of the information that she said. Sorry this wasn't posted when it was supposed to be and thats because we got home about 12:00pm and had to wake up at 5:25am .

Its funny that they were using the same stone but different color. Also, it was cool that you guys went to the Holocaust Museum when you're studying the Holocaust. How old was Daniel?

I like the story you shared about the Washington National Monument and how the funding ran out for a period of time before it was finished with like stone of a different color. I know you've had long days, so thanks for the specific information about the Holocaust Museum. I wanted some of the 8th graders to read that book called Daniel's Story. Enjoy the rest of your week!
